What is Art Loop?

Art Loop is for all people who wish to connect to the arts and related organisations and individuals across the top of the South Island of New Zealand.

Perhaps you are looking to connect with artists, buy art or request a commission, book a venue or simply wish to keep up with the arts events, then Art Loop will provide you with a deeper insight into the array and depth of artistic talent at the top of the South Island of New Zealand.

Artloop aims to achieve the following:

  • Increase community, New Zealand and international awareness of the top of the South Island as a significant hub for artistic development
  • Introduce visitors to individual artists, related craft organisations, events and Art Loop supporters through the website
  • Create connections, foster communication and the exchange of ideas to advance the arts sector across the top of the South
  • Create an online platform for future further development including more interactivity
  • Provide a higher level of visibility for artists by allowing them to register a profile on the Art Loop website, thus promoting them to visitors to exhibitions, performances, websites etc
  • Create a community of people passionate about the arts

Background

Art Loop was established in 2004 as a portal to connect the artists and supporting industry professionals across the top of the South Island of New Zealand.

The ongoing brief is to nurture the communication between the regional art communities and to assist with the promotion of art practitioners and service providers that support art across the top of the South Island.

The initiative was developed by the Nelson City Council, Tasman District Council, Buller District Council, Arts Council Nelson, Arts Marketing Nelson, Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology and the Nga Iwi o te Tau Ihu me Kawatiri (The tribes of the top of the South Island and Buller region).
